Instructor Role

Instructors are content creators who develop and manage educational experiences on the Mentor LMS platform. This role is ideal for subject matter experts, teachers, trainers, and anyone looking to share their knowledge and skills.

Becoming an Instructor

In Collaborative Mode, users can apply to become instructors through the following process:

  1. Log in to your student account
  2. Navigate to the "Become Instructor" option in your dashboard
  3. Complete the application form with your qualifications
  4. Submit for administrator review
  5. Wait for approval notification

Once approved, you'll gain access to the instructor dashboard and course creation tools.

Instructor Dashboard

The instructor dashboard provides a comprehensive overview of your teaching activities and performance metrics.

The main menu of the instructor dashboard includes:

  • Dashboard: Main overview screen with summary statistics
  • Courses: Manage your existing courses and create new ones
  • Exams: Create and manage standalone exams
  • Enrollments: Track student enrollments in your courses and exams
  • Payouts: Monitor your earnings and withdrawal requests
  • Settings: Configure your account, appearance, and language preferences

Course Management

Creating a Course

  1. From your instructor dashboard, navigate to the Courses menu and click Create Course

  2. The course creation interface includes several tabs:

    • Basic: Add fundamental course information
    • Live Class: Configure live session settings
    • Pricing: Set your course price
    • Info: Add detailed course information
    • Media: Upload course media assets
    • SEO: Configure search engine optimization settings
  3. Design your curriculum:

    • Click Add Section to create course sections
    • Use Add Lesson to add content to each section
    • Upload Lesson Resources: Add downloadable materials (PDFs, worksheets, etc.) for each lesson
    • Create assessments with Add Quiz
    • Add Assignments: Create coursework for students to submit
    • Schedule Live Classes: Configure Zoom integration for virtual sessions
    • Organize sections using Sort Section
  4. Preview your course:

    • Use Course Preview to see how students will view your content
    • Test the student experience with Course Player
  5. Submit for approval:

    • Once complete, your course will show an Approved status when ready for students

Managing Your Courses

  • Manage Courses: View and edit all your existing courses
  • Edit Course Content: Update curriculum, sections, lessons, and quizzes
  • Lesson Resources Management: Upload, update, or remove downloadable resources
  • Live Class Management: Schedule and manage virtual classroom sessions
  • Assignment Grading: Review and grade student submissions
  • Track Performance: Monitor enrollment and student progress
  • Respond to Questions: Answer student inquiries in course discussions
  • Review Assessments: Grade quizzes and provide feedback
  • Course Analytics: View detailed enrollment and revenue tracking
  • Course Status: Monitor whether courses are approved and live

Exam Management

Creating Exams

Instructors can create comprehensive standalone exams:

  1. Navigate to Exams menu and click Create Exam

  2. Configure exam settings:

    • Basic Information: Title, description, and category
    • Pricing: Set exam price or make it free
    • Duration: Set time limit for exam completion
    • Pass Percentage: Define minimum score for passing
    • Attempts: Configure number of allowed attempts
  3. Build exam questions:

    • 7 Question Types: Create MCQ, Multiple Select, Matching, Fill in the Blanks, Ordering, Short Answer, and Listening questions
    • Question Bank: Organize questions for reuse
    • Point Assignment: Set points for each question
    • Correct Answers: Define correct responses for auto-grading

Managing Exams

  • Exam Dashboard: View all created exams with statistics
  • Edit Exams: Update exam content, settings, and questions
  • Enrollment Tracking: Monitor student exam enrollments
  • Grading Interface: Manually grade short answer questions
  • Exam Analytics: Track performance metrics and revenue
  • Review Management: View and respond to exam reviews
  • Coupon Creation: Generate discount codes for exam promotions

Student Interaction

  • Discussion Forums: Engage with students in course-specific forums
  • Direct Messages: Communicate privately with enrolled students
  • Announcements: Broadcast important information to all course participants
  • Live Sessions: Host webinars or Q&A sessions (if enabled)
  • Student Feedback: Collect and respond to course reviews

Financial Management

  • Course Pricing: Set appropriate price points for your courses in the Pricing tab
  • Exam Pricing: Configure pricing for standalone exams
  • Revenue Tracking: Monitor your Total Earnings from both courses and exams in the Payouts dashboard
  • Available Balance: View funds available for withdrawal
  • Withdrawal Requests: Create new withdrawal requests using the Request button
  • Withdraw List: Track the status of your withdrawal requests including:
    • Payout amount
    • Status (pending, approved, completed)
    • Payout method
    • Processed date
  • Analytics Dashboard: View detailed enrollment and revenue metrics
  • Payout Settings: Configure your payment method and details in the Settings section
